Outreach Programs: Public Nights

Public Nights Resume in Fall 2026

On one scheduled Thursday evening per month during the academic year, anyone can come to Seven Bridges and the Howey-Mason courtyard in front of the School of Physics to observe various bright celestial objects such as the Moon, planets, nebulae, and star clusters. Overseen by the Georgia Tech School of Physics Observatory Director, volunteers, notably including current and former students from the Georgia Tech Astronomy Club (GTAC), set up the telescopes and are available to answer questions. These highly inclusive and free observing events usually draw more than 100 people from the Georgia Tech community and the general public.

If you would like to receive reminders and updates about future Public Observing Nights, you can subscribe here to the Observatory Events email list.  In case of inclement weather, the observatory director will send announcements about cancellations.  If you no longer wish to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe here.
