Robert Hovden is an Associate Professor in Materials Science at the University of Michigan. He completed his B.S. in Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Applied Physics at Cornell University. Utilizing advanced electron microscopy he unveils new understanding of how structure at the pico-, atomic- and nano-scale determines material properties at the macroscale—spanning a wide class of systems including twisted 2D materials, charge density waves, clean energy materials, and biominerals
