I work with Dr. Matsumoto to simulate knitted fabrics and understand their mechanical behavior. :) So far our group has modeled four different uniform fabric types (stockinette, garter, rib, and seed) to show how the topology of the stitches leads to different elasticity. My current research includes investigating the mechanism behind jammed knit fabrics and exploring how changing different yarn and manufacturing parameters affects elasticity. I am a computationalist and I work closely with experimentalists (Krishma Singal and Alex Cachine) and theorists (Mike Dimitriyev) to attack research problems from all sides.
I have served as GAP Vice President (2022/23) and Mentoring Chair (2023/24). I am also a GAP mentor, so feel free to contact me about working in the Matsumoto group or grad school in general.
